Teen behavior class aims to educate youth about gangs through intervention and prevention

WHAT: The Women’s Intercultural Center in collaboration with Aryba Texas-New Mexico Operation No Gangs is providing a Respect and Manners Workshop for Teens.
WHEN: Saturday, May 30, 2009 from 1 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
WHO: Teens (13-19 years old), Court/School ordered referrals receive a certificate and report for the referring institution.
WHERE: Women’s Intercultural Center
303 Lincoln Street
Anthony, NM 88021
(575) 882-5556

WHY: To educate teens about proper behavior in a variety of situations as well as addressing the issue of boyfriends and girlfriends who inappropriately display affection in public. The class also attempts to focus on Intercultural and inter-gender situations. In addition to profanity, the class address other issues concerning verbal communication. However, the positive aspect of the class is that young people will also make presentations, taking sections and discussions on attitude, behavior in public places and more. Rob Gallardo, Executive Director of Aryba Texas-New Mexico Operation No Gangs says, that the youth presentations add a spin from a child’s perspective.

The class costs $5 per person for self-referrals and $7 per person for court/school ordered referrals. The price difference is to cover the extra effort made for that referral. To enroll in the class, please Rob Gallardo at 575-373-5920 or long on http://operationnogangs.org/classinq.html.
