After more than two years away from the El Paso photographic scene, local photographer Tim Holt is back with his first one-man show since 2004.
Entitled "Public Art," Holt's new exhibit features 15 new images of close-up work from El Paso's "wall art." Graffiti, murals, and hand painted advertisements are all the subject of Holt's lenses.
Looking at all of these "common works of art" as uncommon, Holt takes in all of El Paso as his palette, turning the mundane into hyper-colorful abstract works.
From neighborhoods in Canutillo, the West Side, Downtown, Central and Northeast, Holt gets "up close and personal" with some of El Paso's most famous, and some of the area's least known wall art. He even "goes mobile" by turning to graffiti riddled boxcars as subjects.
Holt resists the urge to "get all Photoshopped" as he says, by simply presenting the images as he visualized theem through his camera. No Photoshopping involved: what is presented is what he saw.
