El Paso’s Culture Cruise Showcases Downtown Art Galleries and Shops
The Culture Cruise is an effort of MCAD’s Cultural and Heritage Tourism Division to showcase the City of El Paso’s artist community and culture. There are over 100 art galleries throughout the city to enjoy. Because of logistic reasons, the current Culture Cruise concentrates only in the galleries and shops located in the downtown area. Individuals may cruise the galleries on their own at anytime or they may join two annual special Culture Cruises held in the spring during the We Celebrate Our Heritage Celebration and in the fall during Dia de los Muertos Celebration. Through these Culture Cruises, cruisers may hop on and off the Sun Metro designated buses who circuit through the Culture Cruise route (see map) throughout the scheduled time. During these special Cruises, the galleries and shops dress themselves with related themes and provide a festive ambiance with live music and refreshments free of charge to all participants. The Culture Cruise features over 10 art galleries and shops including the El Paso Museum of Art, the El Paso Museum of History and El Paso Public Library. So, join the Culture Cruise and enjoy learning about the local art culture and flavor while purchasing fantastic original art work at prices you’ll never find anywhere else. The galleries and shops are open to the general public on a daily basis and feature original works from many local artists and artisans.
