BMW Ultimate Drive® to benefit the El Paso Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure
A great drive with a greater purpose: Join the 12th Annual BMW Ultimate Drive on Monday, May 12th at BMW of El Paso located at 6318 Montana Avenue between the hours of 10 am-6 pm. 2008 marks the 12th year of The BMW Ultimate Drive®, a program of BMW of North America, Inc. The BMW Ultimate Drive® is a national breast health outreach campaign, where participants are invited to test-drive a new BMW. Each test-mile driven will generate a $1 contribution to Komen. BMW’s goal again this year is to log 1 million miles—and raise $1 million.
The BMW Ultimate Drive® consists of a 25-car caravan of new, specially decorated BMWs that will travel to approximately 230 BMW centers nationwide, where local Drive events will take place. The BMW Ultimate Drive® kicked off on February 13, 2008 in Coconut Creek, FL and will travel from city to city until the 2008 finale will be held on December 13, 2008 in South Greer, SC.
In addition to BMW test-drives, activities will take place throughout the day—chair massages, raffles, bake sale—to name a few. The schedule of events for the BMW Ultimate Drive® is as follows:
8:30-10:00 a.m. Breakfast
10:00-6:00 p.m. BMW Test drives
11:00 a.m. Lunch
1:00 p.m. Press Conference followed by Breast Cancer
Survivor Parade
4:30-6:00 p.m. Pink Survivor Hour (Appetizers & Beverages)
At every BMW Ultimate Drive location, BMW will recognize a “Local Hero”—a community resident who has made an outstanding personal effort in the fight against breast cancer. In El Paso, Laurie Paternoster Churchman, will be recognized for her contributions to our community, her battle with breast cancer and her significant contributions to the local fight against breast cancer. Her photograph will be affixed to one of the Vehicles along with her signature. The signature vehicle will become a living memorial to those who have lost their battle against breast cancer and a sign of hope and inspiration to others fighting the disease. Following the press conference, the Survivor Parade will take place and will feature all 25 BMW vehicles driven by a team of local breast cancer survivors

About Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Komen Race for the Cure, we have invested nearly $1 billion to fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
Now in its sixteenth year, the El Paso Affiliate is dedicated to the Komen mission, supporting and sponsoring breast cancer education and awareness programs throughout El Paso County. Since its inception, the El Paso Affiliate has produced more than $2.2 million dollars to provide underserved men and women with breast cancer education, screening and treatment resources.
