Fred Jackson, president of the El Paso Restaurant Association, has filed papers designating a campaign treasurer, a step toward running for mayor. He is the third person to file; Mayor John Cook has announced his intentions to run again, and club owner Alfrank Catucci has said he will run. In addition, City Plan Commission Chairman Gus Haddad has filed to run for office, and although the filing does not specify which office, he is considered a mayoral candidate as well.

He was appointed July 8 to the Airport Board by city Rep. Emma Acosta. [link]
Jackson also was appointed in 2006 by then-East Side city Rep. Presi Ortega to the Greater El Paso Civic, Convention and Tourism Advisory Board. [link]
