Upon learning the news that Sen. Barack Obama was now the official presidential nominee of the Democratic Party, the entire world was treated to an unprecedented yet magnanimous celebration of epic proportions.
Less than a couple of years ago no one thought that an African American with a father from Kenya, and an American white mother would ever be considered as the best candidate for the highest office in these United States.
Well, that moment of truth as come and everyone on this planet, regardless of race, gender or age should be proud of this euphoric moment.
Obama' glorious celebration last night in St. Paul, MN, was somewhat tarnished by Sen. Hillary Clinton' refusal to announce her concession, her refusal to graciously acknowledge that her opponent was the winner in this hard-fought campaign is an opportunity she'll never have again.
Unfortunately she missed this priceless opportunity to show her supporters and sympathizers that she was not a poor loser, that she could accept defeat, and for the good of a united party, move on to help Obama win in November.
But I'm sure she'll quickly agree that the time of healing and reconciliation is now, the time for party unity is upon us and she needs to come that realization soon.
Unlike Mr. David Karlsruher's Opinion, NPT 6/4/08, I don't believe focusing on the red States versus the blue States is critical, instead, we should remember Obama's speeches from the beginning of his primary campaign, that he believes in uniting not dividing the States, he wants to see not blue versus red States but instead, his dream is to bring back this country into the United States of America, as it should be.
I agree with State Rep. Norma Chavez, that a prolonged and protracted back-biting battle could spell defeat for the Party in November.

Hillary Clinton is STUNNING!!!
You have just witnessed the greatest political campaign fight in American history. One for the textbooks, and the history books. Hillary Clinton fought her heart out against all odds to win for all of the American people . While at the same time doing her best to prepare Sen. Barack Obama to win in November if he was the nominee. STUNNING!!! WELL DONE HILLARY CLINTON. WELL DONE! Your AMAZING! :-)
Sen. Obama could not have had a better opponent than Hillary Clinton. Nor could he have had a better opponent to prepare him for the battle royal to come against John McCain and the Republicans ahead of the November elections. Hillary Clinton was like a big Mama cat determined to teach her kitten how to hunt, and hang with the big dogs for the fights ahead.
And how about Bill Clinton, Chelsea, and th whole Clinton team. They were magnificent. They really showed their metal. BRAVO! TEAM CLINTON... BRAVO!
And how about YOU! my fellow Americans. I'm so proud of you. And proud to be one of you. You showed what you are made of. And what makes America so great. You never gave up on your Champion Hillary Clinton. Time, and time again you eagerly waited your turn to vote for Hillary Clinton. To pick her up and pass her along down the line to the rest of your fellow Americans.
You never gave up on her. Just as Hillary Clinton never gave up on you. No matter how many times they counted her out. No matter how many times they brutally knocked her down. You knew she would get back up. And you were ready to support her when she did. AMERICA LOVES A FIGHTER. AMERICA UNDERSTANDS A FIGHTER. AMERICA IS A FIGHTER. I'M PROUD OF YOU AMERICA!
Hillary said she would accept the VP spot on the ticket if ask. And I am thrilled to hear that. I think it would be crazy not to take her up on that offer. You could not have a better VP than Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton is Sen. Obama's best chance of winning the Whitehouse in November. And it is essential that the democrats take back the Whitehouse.
The American people are in a very desperate condition now. George Bush has wrecked America, and much of the world.
YOU MADE US VERY PROUD HILLARY CLINTON! :-)
WE LOVE YOU...

p.s. I really liked Sen. Barack Obama's speech in Minnesota. I think he just maybe ready now for the Bush Republican attack machine, dirty tricks, and vote fraud machine. :-)

Obama the uniter? I'd like to see any piece of legislation he crossed the aisle for. We know McCain has done it with Feingold and Kennedy, but Obama has yet to do so. Some uniter you got there. He has the most liberal voting record in the Senate meaning he pretty much never works with the other side.

WHAT-EVER Lisle Davis: Sen. Clinton is not a poor loser. You must know that she had her own supporters and there was a lot of wrangling behind the scenes.
She just took a "breath" to organize her campign suspension and endorsement this Saturday. Big deal..that is the least the Democrats can allow given the debacle of DNC meeting last Saturday.
Oh right...the voice of "reason" Norma Chavez. There is no backbiting. She needs to get back to the work of the people of El Paso who elected her; instead of accepting a salary ...while campaigning for Obama.
IF she and the rest of you are so confident of Sen. Obama than lets go forward. If the party is defeated perhaps it is could be that Sen. Obama needed the superdelegates to get him over the finish line. While Sen. Clinton even with the media in the tank for Sen. Obama, kept winning primaries....up to the end of the game.

Its a shame when people take a naive approach to politics. Many say the "old math" does not apply to obama.
One component of the "old math" is the reality of racism (and in Hillary's case: sexism) , and as far I can tell, racism is allive and well in America.

OBAMA'S VICTORY IS WONDERFUL, HEARTWARMING, INSPIRING AND HOPEFULLY HE'LL WIN...BUT , CAN YOU IMAGINE THE IMPACT AR0UND THE WORLD, ALSO IF A WOMAN WAS NOMNINATED AND WON...IMPACTING 3.3 BILLION WOMEN, A BILLION OR SO, CHATTELS OR IN SEMI SERVITUDE IN AN UNEQUAL CULTURE, MANY WITH OUT A HOPE OF A BTTER LIFE...

Hillary is just nasty. That's all. Mean, selfish & nasty.
But at least we KNOW who the hell SHE is.

That a major party had a choice between a women or a mixed race candidate was a high point in American politics. However, racism may rear its ugly head between now and November.

One can understand why Sen. Clinton should have issues. For instance, how should she and her supporters reconcile after she won the primary vote in Texas and then our state party hacks gave the delegate majority to Obama?
If you don't think focusing on the red vs. blue states is key for a Democrat victory in November and if you think Obama's rhetoric will work in the southern red (neck) states you are very naive. When you quote Obama saying "he believes in uniting not dividing the States" do you really think that just because he says it the independents or Regan Democrats in Florida, Ohio or Michigan will believe he can do it? Do you think it will have the slightest impact with the majority Republican voting block in Alabama or Mississippi? McCain will be saying the exact same thing.
In your dream will Texas vote for Obama? Don't kid yourself due to the great history of the moment...this will be a 51% to 49% election and it will come down to the vote of the independents in the blue states and how they are swayed by the television ads in the last week of October and the first week of November. The negative campaigning and TV ads by the Republican PAC's about Obama's 20 year association with his nutty preacher will make this a VERY close election and it will be a blue state and red state outcome identical to the last two elections - which propelled the last guy who was a self professed "uniter not a divider" into the white house.

You are probably not aware that Hillary Clinton is planning to be nominated from the floor in August. I think Nancy Pelosi would be a wonderful choice for VP for President Obama. She seems to be a lady with class not a street fighter.

Every single time I hear a democrat talk about Obama and his possible loss in November the words racist are thrown first. Who is tarnishing who? It seems the dems almost want Obama to lose to keep their race baiting and bashing of this country alive and well.
We have a representative government for the people in this country.
Nearly 80% of the citizens of the USA are white people. We seem to forget that. Black Americans overwhelmingly voted for a candidate who looked like them and represented them. Is that racist too?
Lets just drop all the racism crap people. Racism is just the card you like to play instead of brining up how this man has a very far left record, very very far left extremist terrorist ties, and how this man cannot debate but only read prepared speeches.
The vast majority of American citizens, of all backgrounds, are centrist on all issues. Wouldn't we all prefer to get a leader who represents all Americans? Instead of one who represents only the extreme far left?

I've been searching as the reason I've actually been up set over this primary.
I just saw Obama as he was, A man. Nothing special or out of the ordinary. Now if I add a little racial hatred to my heart I can understand the euphoria surrounding his win. A little hate clears it all up.
