Hello all. We have been speaking over the months about elevating El Paso by showcasing the artistic talent have here. Our plan is beginning to circulate, and we thank all those supporters of Del Pueblo Press and its growing Storytellers' Alliance.

Please visit elpasotimes.com and go the "news" section to read the coverage of our plan to bring life back to Downtown. Select "A dream for Downtown: El Pasoan wants to remake placita" from the list. Then please read the Times editorial under the "Opinion" tab and read the Times view of "Downtown plaza: Keep it a green space" to see the strides the Del Pueblo STA is making.

Please post comments, negative or positive, it doesn't matter, just let El Paso know that there are a chorus of opinions to be heard.

While the news coverage was superficial, and missed our primary intent (sorry the journalist in me comes out sometimes), we are still cognizant of the fact that this movement is growing faster than anticipated, and content that the Times recognizes that this movement is legitimate enough to cover it both on its news section and its editorial section -- a feat difficult to accomplish.

Please spread the word, invite your family, invite your friends, invite you business associates to read about and join El Paso's movement. We have several hundred now, but in the coming years Del Pueblo's Storyteller's Alliance will number in the thousands and finally will help make El Paso the epicenter of the Border and the American Southwest that it deserves to be.

Our next project is to sponsor a contest to improve San Jacinto park, inviting all the community to provide proposals and ideas.
Our fellow El Pasoan's voices deserve to be heard and taken seriously. We will meet soon about this, and, please, if you would like to be a part of this project, let us know, or if you want to know more about the Alliance, contact us as well.

Your friend, supporter, and fellow proud El Pasoan,

"In April of last year Carla and I accepted an invitation from Texans for Peace to be a part of a delegation to Jordan. The purpose of the trip was to meet with a variety of Iraqi refugees and to learn firsthand the difficulties they face. Our delegation also met with non-governmental organizations that provide aid to Iraq.

Carla and I are both RNs, humanitarians and activists.
