Bowie High School Principal Announces Retirement
Lionel Rubio, Bowie High School principal, announced his retirement from EPISD due to family health concerns. Mr. Rubio’s retirement is effective Nov. 30.
Dr. Priscilla Terrazas, Principal Leader in Staff Development with the district, has been assigned as the interim principal. Dr. Terrazas will work closely with Maria Flores, the Director of Priority Schools Division assigned to Bowie.
Rubio had been with EPISD for 12 years and had previously held positions as principal at Guillen Middle in 1999, principal of Alamo Elementary in 2001 and principal at Magoffin Middle in 2003 prior to being named principal of Bowie High School in 2004.
“Mr. Rubio has a good reputation of facing challenges with enthusiasm and dedication during more than a decade with the District,”
Superintendent Dr. Lorenzo Garcia. “I especially appreciate Mr.
Rubio’s hard work at Bowie these past few years and wish him and his family the best.”
Dr. Terrazas role as Principal Leader in Staff Development was to oversee the training of future administrators in the district. Dr.
Terrazas has also served in the Socorro as director of Human Resources, and an assistant principal at Montwood High School.
Dr. Terrazas also had been with UTEP teacher education programs and Doctoral Graduate assistant since 1997. She began her teacher career in Ysleta ISD in 1985 and was a Master Teacher.
