UIL CAST OF BURY THE DEAD MAKES THIRD APPEARANCE AT REGIONALS Riverside
Theatre UIL One-Act Play Prepares for Regional Competition
The cast and crew of Riverside High School's production of Bury the Dead by
Irwin Shaw recently won the area competition held at the Chamizal theatre on
April 3rd. Several students received acting awards highlighted by Jose Lopez
receiving the Best Actor award at the competition. The team will advance to
the Regional competition at San Angelo, Texas on Friday, April 11th to
compete for a chance to advance to the State competition in Austin, Texas.
Riverside High School and El Paso High School are the only remaining El Paso
schools still left in the state wide One-Act-Play Competition. Bury The Dead
deals with soldiers who have died on the field of battle who refuse to be
buried. The play explores the aftermath of a soldier's death and the impact
it has on his family. The Riverside Theatre company has advanced to the
regional competition three out of the past four years. The play is directed
by Stephen Solis and Craig Bonner.
