El Paso's Zin Valle Vineyards wins two gold medals at Dallas Morning News Wine Competition

El Paso, TX. – El Paso's only winery, Zin Valle Vineyards, is proud to announce its recent success at the world-renowned 2008 Dallas Morning News Wine Competition.
Zin Valle's Non-vintage Sparkling Wine and Zin Valle's 2006 Rising Star Gewürztraminer beat out thousands of entries from across the nation to each win gold medals in their respective categories.
"This is just further proof that a world-class wine really can come from Texas," owner Victor Poulos said. "We are very honored to win such prestigious awards."
Sixty judges smelled, tasted and looked over more than 3,500 entries in a wide-range of categories, and handed out less than 200 total gold medals.
Most notably, Zin Valle's gold-medal winners beat out hundreds of wines from many of the most respected wine producing regions such as the Napa Valley and Anderson Valley.
The Dallas Morning News published the winners in its April 16 edition.
"We have been trying to limit the number of wines we make and concentrate instead on selling good, food-pairing wines and I think in the long run this effort pays off," Poulos said. "The medals the wines are winning is conclusive proof that a quality wine can be made in Texas."
The gold-medal winners are still available for purchase at the winery, but quantities are limited.
Zin Valle opened its tasting room doors in 2004 and is locally owned and operated by the Poulos family. The winery offers free tastings, monthly outdoor movie nights, an outdoor patio area with live music and an exclusive barrel room available for private parties.
